Bringing about lasting and positive culture change is a complex and challenging task. To create a healthier culture, leaders must address norms, policies, practices, peer support, values alignment, and social climate. The chances of success are greatly increased when the effort is based on sound information, is systematic, and engages a broad cross-section of those affected. The Well Planned Action Tracker is an online system (for phone, tablet and computer) that tracks and celebrates a systematic approach to addressing an important culture change goal, such as creating a supportive environment for physical activity.

The Well Planned Action Tracker recognizes four phases of systematic culture change:

  1. Preparation – analyzing, setting objective and developing leadership.
  2. Involvement – introducing the culture change goal, its purpose and how employees can support the effort.
  3. Integration – aligning organizational policies and practices.
  4. Sustainability – evaluating, celebrating and building on progress.

Participants use the action tracker to report each action they take. After participants submit action(s), they see a report that summarizes their work to date. The report ranks their efforts among other participants. Gold, silver and bronze Well Planned awards are granted to participants depending on the total number of actions they complete in various phases.
